Short Break From Blogging

Our guest blogger and client, Vincci married B last weekend at Hotel Arts. (#vplusbwedding) Once we get pictures from their photographer, TLaw Photography, we will definitely share them with our readers too. (The picture below was taking from with our cellphone.) To celebrate their wedding and a job well done by the Wishahmon team, we will be taking a break from blogging until August 5th, 2015. Hope everyone enjoys their summer!

Disclaimer: This break from blogging is in no way a result of exhaustion from Vincci's wedding!

Beautiful Sugar Flowers on Wedding Cakes

Many wedding cakes are decorated with fresh flowers but did you know that not all flowers are appropriate for cake decoration? Some flowers are naturally toxic for consumption while others are harmful because of pesticide use. Generally, any flower that is sold as an edible garnish is a perfect choice for fresh flowers on a cake. Flowers that are edible include: roses, gardenias, pansies, violets, and dandelions.

If you don't want the headache of finding edible flowers or the heart break of one of your guests getting sick, an alternative to fresh flowers are sugar flowers. This is a more expensive route to go but sugar flowers have come a long way. They look practically real now. Check out the stunning cakes by Cotton & Crumbs.

Using Sparklers at Your Wedding

More and more couples are opting on having a later wedding ceremony and reception. There are many benefits to this: No huge time gap in the middle of the day; potentially only one wedding venue (which cuts costs); and potential for beautiful wedding pictures at night with sparklers.

If you like the idea of using wedding sparklers, just make sure of the following:
1) They are made of metal. Wood ones will burn and cause smoke and ashes. (Imagine getting all of that on your clothes. Ew.)
2) Give each guest multiple sparklers. It is very hard for a large group of guests to light their sparklers at exactly the right and same time.
3) Use a lighter to light your sparklers. It is just easier that fussing with matches. For the same reason as number 2, hard to get the timing right.

Here are some pictures of couples that used sparklers at their wedding! (I have no idea how they got the words in the picture though. Just ask your photographer.)

Sparkler <3...I think to do this, you put camera on a slow shutter speed and you get a person with a sparkler to quickly run around making the shape...they don't get picked up by the camera? Anybody know for sure?tressugar

How to Have a Child-Free Wedding Reception

Some of my clients just don't want children at their wedding. To be perfectly honest, it is their day and their decision to invite whomever they want. I fully support their decision to have kids or not to have kids at their wedding. When they have made a decision not to invite kids, they run into the problem of how to tell their guests that they don't want their precious kids there. Here are some suggestions:

The subtle way - Address your wedding invite to Mr. and Mrs. or write the number of guests you are inviting on the RSVP. The only problem with this is your guests may assume children are a given or they are "part of the package."

bridalguide.com

The direct way - You can say explicitly on the invite the following: No children; Adults only; Strictly no children please; Adult wedding and reception; Please respect our wishes for a child free reception; or This invitation is extended to adults only. The downside of this way is some of your friends might be hurt that their beautiful kids are not invited.
Oh. My. God! Someone will wear this at my wedding. Absolutely adorable!!

Cute and thoughtful way - you can say:
"Children at the ceremony, we'd love them on the scene. Reception time, however, is an adult's only theme." or
"While we love to watch the children run and play, this is an adults only kind of day."

The 20 Most Adorable Children to Ever Attend Weddings

Blame it on someone else - If you don't want to come out to say you don't want kids at your weddings, you can simply say it is someone else's decision that you "can't" have kids at your wedding. Easiest person to blame? Management from the venue.

What do you think of these suggestions? Which way would you convey to your guests that you don't want kids at your wedding? Remember it is your wedding and you can chose who you want there, regardless of age!!
